I write my name in the sand so the ocean will remember me…

Daily mischief with my mother’s makeup drawer and a stash of Crayola washable markers, delivered a stellar first performance as Santa’s helper, and knew I was an artist by age 5. Discovered the meaning of carpe diem, moved away from home to become a city girl, and attended my first protest. Enamored with travel,  learned what it meant to enjoy my own company, and obsessed with the beautiful escape of listening to music in languages that I didn’t speak. Spent a semester finding myself in Italy, studied drawing, painting, sculpting,  and fell in love with new flavors and the pop of a wine cork. Studied all aspects in the collaborative art of theater, honed in on my strengths in performance and makeup artistry, and graduated with a BA in Theatre Performance. Decided to try California for a year…stayed for 7, first agent, first film, first makeup job, volunteered for the LA homeless coalitions and met some humans I will not soon forget. Swam the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Pacific, Caribbean, found my favorite beach in Malibu, and my best reflections when I say hello and goodbye to the sun. Drove cross-country with everything I own in the back of my Honda Civic, said hello to New York, and remembered that I would hibernate like a bear from the first frost until spring if I could. Married my long-distance love, checked skydiving off my list, and recognized that I will always choose a new place to adventure over material gifts. Enjoyed Shakespeare at the Globe, ran through the sands of Mont Saint Michel, and climbed the Acropolis. Graced with a generous mentor who inspired me with their artistry and activism, began the journey of AMANDA JAYNE as a freelance business, and tapped into every creative bone in my body. Started doing makeup for the amazing talents at A+E Networks,  had the pleasure of working with shows such as Glam Masters, Gift of a Lifetime and Project Runway, and teamed up on multiple productions with Valiant Pictures. Had the privilege of working on makeup legend Mario Dedivanovic, working alongside master aesthetician Nicole Caroline,  and making sure that Bryan Terrell Clark looked flawless for his Carnegie Hall debut. Became a momma bear to two amazing cubs, realized that nothing brings me greater joy than their belly laughs, and realized face painting children takes serious skill. Studied my favorite artists as the world was on pause, refocused the lens on gratitude, and put my protest pants on again so my children would see that we rise by lifting others up. Continued my studies with the Make Up For Ever Academy, explored the world of SFX makeup, and got my first tattoo. Found a place to put down roots, a new home, in a new state, and a new outlook for AMANDA JAYNE. Excited to see what lies ahead, faces to paint, stories to tell, creative communities to be inspired by, and of course new adventures to be had.

… I find my peace in the sea and still write my name in the sand
